Hey, Mamas! I’m so excited to finally share a new find, and a new FAVORITE workout brand with you!

A few months ago, I came across an awesome mompreneur, Dolly Girma, and reached out to spotlight her for our #BossMom series on our page @almazandco_ —- and shortly after, we came together for a collaboration where she sent me some of her products for review.

If you’re wondering why it took so long for me to share this review (yes, I’m a busy Mama but, more importantly) it’s because I wanted to have a full experience with the products. I wanted to wash them a few times, work out in them, wear them out, etc.

Needless to say, I wore the leggings way more than I expected, both while working out and running errands around town with kids in tote.

Let’s dive into the Brand. Grind Like A Doll, started by mompreneur and Ethiopian Mom, Dolly Girma, was launched with the intention of empowering women at it’s core. You get that sense immediately, from their social media pages to their website AND the amount of detail put into each product.

The Gem Stone Collection Leggings and top:

I can’t stress enough the amazing quality of these leggings and top; especially for the price point!

What I love about the leggings -

  • they’re high waisted (this is a must for all of my leggings, pants and jeans- thanks to my big hips!)

  • they fit like a glove (no sagging, no rolling, no loose material anywhere)

  • they are the perfect length, which means no need to cuff them at the bottom (I’m only 5’1 and a half)

  • they don’t have a crotch line (yes, no line down the middle- love it! lol)

  • I can wear them with out without feeling like I’m in gym clothes- the design is simple and classy

  • they’re half the price of my other high-end athletic leggings- $39

What I love about the top -

  • again, the material is something I’m obsessed with- it feels really good on

  • I love the length as it covers my midriff

  • this material keeps my “girls” in place (I have to point this out as a mom who breastfed two kids. Some of my other sports bras don’t do a great job of keeping my girls together, or even keeping them from falling out. If you’re a mom, you’ll appreciate this.)

  • the design is clean and minimalistic, which I love, but it’s also wide enough for optimum coverage while looking cute (I would actually feel comfortable wearing this alone at the gym or running outside)

  • the price point is also great for the material- $29

What I love about the waist trimmer -

  • can you guess what I’m going to say first…? Yep- The Material…!

  • this was my first time using a waist trimmer, so I didn’t know what to expect. After several uses, I really enjoyed having it on around the house (especially while cooking)

  • It’s a combination of both zipper and velcro, giving you extra support. It doesn’t roll at all…. like at all, which is really nice.

  • I love the way this automatically makes me stand up straight, correcting my posture immediately

  • I can’t tell if there has been any significant change in my waist/abdomen since wearing it. I don’t think I’ve worn it long enough to see results yet, but I do think that this could be great for slimming your tummy, especially for postpartum moms. The company definitely doesn’t make these claims, I’m just drawing my own conclusions here.

  • I looked up some belly binders online, and they ranged from $35-$80…. this waist trimmer is priced at $59

What to pay attention to before purchasing:

  • The sizing. I mentioned in the video that I’m usually a Small/Medium but the top and leggings were both M/L and fit perfectly. Their size definitely runs smaller. Check out their size chart or reach out to them before purchasing if you’re unsure about your size.

More water, anyone?

If you’re going to have a workout brand, you have to have water bottles that are on brand, right? Right! Three things I really love about this water bottle:

  • the material- it’s made from 100% BPA and BPS free, Tritan plastic, which is a safe plastic (woohoo!) and does not contain estrogenic or androgenic activity. Additionally this type of plastic is considered to be a durable plastic that lasts long with great impact resistance.

  • the size- it’s easy to grab, not big and bulky

  • the time indicators on the bottle keep me on track and remind me when I need to drink more water

  • I think the price is worth the great material. I believe the next best material to this plastic is glass. - $25

So, would I recommend this new brand along with their workout gear- Absolutely. If I had to rate them or give them stars, I’d give them 5 stars simply for quality material and simple, chic and classic designs.

I’d love to hear from you- have you tried anything from Grind Like A Doll? What did you get and what did you think? Let me know in the comments, Mamas!
