Definition + Story behind the name

Almaz means Diamond in various languages, such as Tigrinya, Amharic, Arabic and Russian.

One of my personal revelations early on in motherhood was that motherhood was more about ME and what I was learning about myself, how I was adapting (or not adapting) to the pressure, and how I was growing and changing as a woman.

Diamond, is a universally sought after gem that comes to being the beauty we all love Only after being subjected to extreme temperatures and pressures. It is this pressure that reveals the beautiful diamond that is “inside” of this ordinary rock embedded below the Earth’s surface. 

This revelation helped me embrace the pressures of motherhood. During trying times, I would often repeat to myself: “don’t succumb to the pressure; you are a diamond in the making. You got this, Mama!”

Our purpose is to support, connect and empower moms in various seasons of life. We believe that Motherhood is better when we do it together.

Our vision is to change the narrative for women in our community by cultivating bold and courageous women who live out their authentic lives, share their stories and journeys with one another to encourage and motivate.
As women with a rich cultural heritage, we envision a future where our children will have resources and tools to connect them to their cultural roots in the diaspora.
